A market for the whole world

The Municipal Market is located in the historic center of Santa Maria da Feira. Built between 1953 and 1959, it is a monument classified as being of “public interest” by IGESPAR.

It is one of the first works by the architect Fernando Távora, a pillar of modern Portuguese architecture. As architect Eduardo Souto de Moura says, “Távora is the father of the Porto school and the great-grandfather of Europe. He is a historical and universal figure”.
